Calculating commissions. Commission for the month is at 8% on the first $30,000 and anything over $30,000 is at 10%

Try this: With your compensation in cell A1

put this formula in B1=IF(A1<=30000,A1*8%,A1*10%)

If I understand your question correctly, the commission on 32,000 would be: 30,000 x 8% plus 2,000 x 10%

2,400 + 200 = 2,600

The formula for that calculation is:

=IF(A1>30000,(A1-30000)*0.1+2400,A1*0.08)
