i have 2 columns. the first column contains different names/nicknames which are repeated randomly.., the 2nd contains the number of points gained to a certain day which are also repeated randomly (it may be 7,6,5,4,3,2,1 but also 7,7,7,4,3,2,2... etc) and my wish would be to get an automatic list of total points for each person altogether... is this somehow possible ? here's the screenshot for a better imagination:

It would be faster using a dattabase.

I think a single formula would be a lot easier (and faster) than implementing a database solution. Look up the SUMIF function in Excel help.

Based on the example in the image you provided, if you put this formula in F3 and drag it down, you should get the results you are looking for.

=SUMIF($B$2:$B$36, E3, $C$2:$C$36)
