November 19, 2016 at 13:45:07
Specs: Windows 7
Need a formula that does the following.

if a2:a50 = food then return the value of the cell in the same row.

example if the formula searchs and finds a15 equals food then the formula would return f15's value of "good".

Any ideas

Thanks

A VLOOKUP() should work for you.

With your data like:

     A B C D E F G H
1) Apple Fruit Food
2) Candy Tasty
3) Food Good
4) Water Wet
5) Drink Tea

Put your Target Word in cell G1

In cell H1 enter the formula: =VLOOKUP(G1,A1:F50,6,0)

See how that works for you.
