Microsoft Excel 2003 (full product)

I am creating a workbook to keep track of my fantasy baseball teams. Each week I have a different opponent in 10 categories. R, HR, RBI, SB, etc. I want to create cells that keep track of how many weeks I won and how many my opponents won. Say for runs one week I had 57 and they had 55 and then the next week i lost 51 to 46. I have the workbook set up so in cell O3 is says "them" and O4 says "me". I need a formula that says in P3 next to "them" 1 because they won one week and in P4 1 because I won one week. I was thinkinking of a combination of a SUM and IF formula but I do not know how to write it, thank you.

I'm a little confused about the lay out of your workbook. You mention some single cells - O3 and O4 - and then you say you want "Sum" something.

You can COUNT values over a range:

=COUNTIF(O3:O7,"them")

For the table below, this would return 3.

You can use SUMIF to look at one range and SUM another based on what is in the first range.

=SUMIF(O3:O7,"them",P3:P7)

This will SUM the values in P3:P7, but only in those rows where "them" appears in O3:O7.

e.g. For the table below, it would return 6.

O P 3 me 1 4 them 2 5 them 1 6 me 2 7 them 3
