Excel date-stamp working, but not static

March 9, 2011 at 07:26:27
Specs: Windows XP
I have inserted a check box into excel, and once it is checked the next cell populates the date. What is happening now is that date will always read the <NOW> date.

I want it to act like a timestamp to when the box is checked. I just need a date to appear that shows when the box was checked.

Is there a static date formula?

Is there a static date formula?

None that I know of.
Both =TODAY() and =NOW() are "dynamic" or "volatile" which means the function will recalculated whenever Excel calculates

To get a Static Date you need a VBA macro.

Or enter it from the key board using either

CTRL+; (SEMICOLON) for Date

CTRL+SHIFT+: (COLON) for Time
