Hello everyone, Normally Excel gives the variety of charts (apple pie, bars, radar etc.) but in the chart all the series are displayed in the preselected mode.

I'd like to know if it is possible to have mixed types of charts in one and namely:

if I have e.g. two series, one of them is to show the real monthly results in the period from January to June and it should be shown by bars whereas the second series is to show the target objectives, which should be shown by a red line.Is it possible to do this in Excel?

Thanks a lot for your suggestions!

2 things: 1 - You didn't say what version of Excel you are using.

2 - I'm not a charting expert, so while these steps will work, there may be a more streamlined method. In 2003:

1 - Create a Bar Chart showing both series

2 - Right Click one of the Bars for the second series and choose Chart Type

3 - Select the Type for that series

4 - Click OK

Hi Derby Dad, I'm working in Excel 2003.

But when I rightclik one of those two bars and choose other type it changes the chart for both series.

I have also tried to "highlight" only one single bar and rightclicked it choosing different type od chart but with the same result: both series were changed.

The same happens in Excel 2007.So, I thought "OK". I may do the job just using the drawing toolbox no problem...

Thank you for trying to help me!

Since I can't see your chart from where I'm sitting, I don't know what you are doing "wrong" - OK, "different". ;-) I tried my suggested steps on 2 different machines running 2003 and 1 running 2010. It works everytime.

I created a bar chart with this data and ended up with a chart with sets of 2 bars, side by side.

A B C 1 Name Score Target 2 A 1 2 3 B 2 4 4 C 3 4If I right-click any bar from either series, I can change that series to any type of chart I want.
