i need to work with correlated entries. meaning, If I enter "c" in cell A1 and "b" in cell A2. I need to check if these entries is correlated (correlation entered into a matrix). Does anyone know how to solve this?

Thank you in advance.

I don't know what you mean by "correlated". Could you please expand on your requirements a bit?

If c is in A1 and b is in A2, what needs to be checked to determine if they are correlated?

Where do you want the result of this "check" to be displayed?

let's say i'm building a stock portfolio...

when I buy stock "C" this is entered into cell A1.

when getting a new entry signal on stock "B" i need to chk the correlation matrix between stock A, B, C, D, E. If the two stocks are closely correlated I should not trade stock C, therefore the excel program should provide me with the entry signal - but at the same time instruct me not to execute the trade.

Unless you provide detailed information regarding the "correlation matrix" there's not much help that we can provide. Keep in mind that we can't see your workbook from where we're sitting, so we have no idea how it is laid out or where the data is coming from.

Additional information we need:

How would the "program" provide you with an entry signal?

What is your definition of "closely correlated"?

How is the correlation determined?

If you are going to post any example data, please click on the following line and read the instrucitons on how to post data in this forum.
