Excel adds letter to text input

Specs: Windows XP Pro, P4/2GB

I have just created a quick spreadsheet to add data for a particular job. One column of cells has been formatted to text only. The problem I am having is one of my clients name is John Alway but whenever I enter the name Alway MS Excel persists in adding an S making Always...The only work around I have found to date is to add a quotation mark after the Y but this obviously does not look that professional on printout etc. Any guidance on how I can format that column just to accept only the characters I enter would be greatly appreciated. Thanking You

Under the Tools menu you'll find a choice for AutoCorrect options.

In the Replace field enter alway and you'll see always appear in the With field.

Hit Delete.

The only problem with this method is that Excel will never automatically correct alway to be always even if you want it to.

You could use a macro to override the change, but that could get messy.
