What version of Excel?

What does happen, if anything, when you copy/paste?

Have you tried Copy / Paste Special / Formula?

Do you have Skype or have recently installed Skype?

I have 2007.

Sample

1 2 3 4 = 10 If the simple formula is =sum(a1:a4) then the # 10 is the answer.

When I try to copy the cell where the -sum(a1:a4) is in and paste to the next cell
below and so forth it does not copy the formula it copies the number 10.

✔ Best Answer
it does not copy the formula it copies the number 10
So in effect, it is doing a Copy / Paste / Values?

Try running a Diagnostic:

Running Microsoft Office Diagnostics from within Excel/Word

Click the Microsoft Office button
Click on the Excel/Word Options button to bring up the Excel Options dialog box (at the bottom of window)
Click on the Resources button in the left hand pane
Click on the Diagnose button in the right hand pane
Click Continue
Click Run Diagnostics

Running Microsoft Office Diagnostics from the Start Menu

Click on the Start button
Click All Programs
Click Microsoft Office folder
Click Microsoft Office Tools
Click Microsoft Office Diagnostics
Click Continue
Click Run Diagnostics

See if that helps.

Hi unfortunatly i have not the office tools then i do know how to find where can I have the problem you solved. Nevertheless I have installed skype, and my excel is version 2003.

FYI After I´ve unistalled SKIPE, the copy function works perfect.
Thanks for your clues.

When I said earlier that I ran the diagnostic and it seemed to fix the copy/paste problem, it did until I re-booted the next day. Now I am going to uninstall SKYPE as the person above (Iamicomputing) did. I'm curious tho' if it works for me - what does Skype have to do with Excel? Thanks

Don't know what the problem is between Skype & Office but it causes problems.

In the quoted thread the OP said:

I discovered that the cause was an older version of SkypeClicktoCall.exe program.

You may not have to uninstall Skype, just try doing an update of the Click to Call program first and see if that cures your problems.
If not, then try the uninstall.
