Solved Excel 2010 jumps to File tab whenever a format is changed

April 14, 2014 at 07:41:26
Specs: Windows 7, A6 6g Ram
In EXCEL 2010, ON the HOME Tab, Whenever I change any cell format from the CTRL+1 pop-up, eg font size, Decimal places fill etc, Excel jumps from the Home Tab to the File Tab. This is a recent occurrence and , I think, now happens with all workbooks. How do I prevent the unwanted jump?

Thanks

Found the answer.
Right clicking the Ribbon opens a pick list of 5 choices.
One of the choices is a toggle: " Minimize the ribbon".
With that selection checked, you can click on any of the tabs to display the Ribbon for that tab. Then as soon as you make a selection, or click on a sheet, the ribbon immediately minimizes and jumps to the FILE tab. Click again in the ribbon area and uncheck the " Minimize the ribbon" choice and Excel 2010 again behaves normally.

Best guess would be a Macro or Add-In.
Have you added any new Add-Ins or Macros lately?

Hi Mike,

No macros in the workbook in question. No macros in any other open work book.
No add ins that I know of.. will have a look.

Thanks for the thoughts.

You could try doing a Repair and see if that clears the problem.

In Control Panel
Open Programs and Features
Select Microsoft Office, do not double Click on it, simply select it.
At the top of the window you should see the selection: Change
Click on Change
then select Repair.
