Specs: Windows 7
When I receive or create spreadsheets with a fill color in the cell, I cannot see it on my monitor. How can I correct this problem?

If you highlight a cell, cells, a row or column, and go to Format Cells, Appearance (I think) and select the fill in color you want for those cell(s), they should show up immediately in that color.

Do you have the same problem if you look at the sheet on a different monitor or machine?

If your running Excel 2007, try running a Diagnostic:

Running Microsoft Office Diagnostics from within Excel/Word

Click the Microsoft Office button
Click on the Excel Options button to bring up the Excel Options dialog box (at the bottom of window)
Click on the Resources button in the left hand pane
Click on the Diagnose button in the right hand pane
Click Continue
Click Run Diagnostics

You could also check the color palette:

In 2007

Click the Microsoft Office button
Click on the Excel Options button to bring up the Excel Options dialog box (at the bottom of window)
Click on the Save button in the left hand pane
Under the heading of: Preserve Visual Appearance of the Work Book:
Click on the Colors button
Check and see what colors are being used.
There is also a Reset button that should put things back to their default values.
