Solved Excel 2007 selects several cells instead of one.

Specs: Windows XP Pro (SP3), Homebuilt, ASUS P5B-
Excel 2007. When I try to select a cell with the mouse Excel marks the cell and several cells below the one selected. This is a real problem when trying to copy formulae. The problem has been reported several years ago but is there a solution?

✔ Best Answer
First thing to do is run a Diagnostic:

Running Microsoft Office Diagnostics from within Excel/Word

Click the Microsoft Office button
Click on the Excel/Word Options button to bring up the Excel Options dialog box (at the bottom of window)
Click on the Resources button in the left hand pane
Click on the Diagnose button in the right hand pane
Click Continue
Click Run Diagnostics

See if that helps.

Aslo found this:

This is a bug in Excel 2007 when in page layout view.
Try changing the Zoom level slightly up or down a couple of percent.

Ran diagnostics and they reported 1 error (unspecified) found and corrected. My problem remained.
Tried your second suggestion, increasing the zoom level fro 100% to 105% seems to solve the problem. Many, many thanks.
I'll report the matter to Microsoft but I'll not hold my breath awaiting a solution!
