Excel 2007 How to allow only change of cell color in a protected sheet where "Allow Format" is unticked. I want users only to change the color of cells. All other formatting should not be allowed.

I don't think that will work. You could however set up conditional formatting, and have them place a specific character in those cells. Perhaps a ".", and the conditional formatting could change the color of the cell based on the input character.

Depending on the specifics of your task, it's possible that a macro might do it for you.

For example, this code will allow the user to change the color of Sheet1!G4 even if the sheet is protected:

Private Sub Worksheet_SelectionChange(ByVal Target As Range)
  If Target.Address = "$G$4" Then
   Sheets(1).Unprotect
     Application.Dialogs(xlDialogPatterns).Show
   Sheets(1).Protect
    Exit Sub
  End If
End Sub

(Passwords could be added if required)

The code could easily be modified to be applied across a specific range of cells or even the entire sheet.
