email receipients can not open PDF file

November 16, 2010 at 09:09:58
Specs: Windows XP
I often share PDF documents with clients via email. Recently when I attach a PDF file to an email the recipient (s) can not open it. I had no problem openning it before I sent it and prevously had no problem sending them. I did however recently upgraded my computer. Could it be a version issue?

re: "the recipient (s) can not open it"

There are lots of versions of "can not open it".

What exactly does that mean? Does the user get an error message, does absolutely nothing happen when the icon is clicked, etc.?

When the recipient gets the email with the attachedment the icon is not the usual PDF icon they get the one with the box with little dots that is kind of a ghost icon that you can never open. Hope this makes sense.

That sounds like a file assocation issue as in they don't have adobe reader installed.

Can you read the pdf attachement just fine if you email it to yourself?
