I am a newbie in excel & this site. I have dates in a column on a spread sheet. Document already had year in the column & is needed for other functions. I need date order by month-day or day-month (I don't want the year) I highlight the column, click on alignment box, then number tab, then date-get list of date types. Choosing month-day or day-month options still orders by year you can't see.

06/08/32 original date coumn
06/03/33
06/16/34
06/14/36
06/25/37

8-Jun day-month
3-Jun
16-Jun
14-Jun
25-Jun or

6/8 month-day
6/3
6/16
6/14
6/25
Any help will be greatly appreciated. chorner

Easiest way is to use a "helper" column.

With your data in Column A
In column B enter a formula like: =MONTH(A1)&DAY(A1)
drag down as many rows as needed

Now select BOTH columns A & B, but SORT on column B

See how that works.
