I need to know how I can compare to dates to determine the amount of time that has lapsed between the two.

If I have a start date of 05/14/2006 and an end date of 6/28/2011, I need to know in years and months how much time has lapsed. It should not show by day, just years and months. It should round down if a full month has not been met.

Can anyone help???

You can use the days360 function to find the number of days between the two dates. Then just do some simple math to come up with the years and months.

1844/30 will give you the months roughly

then figure out the years based on the months.

Try this:

=DATEDIF(A1,A2,"Y") & " Years " & DATEDIF(A1,A2,"YM") & " Months"
