Solved Data validation not working

March 28, 2020 at 08:44:04
Specs: Windows10
Hi guys,
I have just down loaded an excel worksheet on to a USB from my PC, and uploaded that worksheet onto my laptop. Everything in the worksheet has been working as required.
However when I work on the same worksheet on my laptop, data validation doesn't seem to be working
I have 18 cells with the same data validation - WHOLE NUMBER BETWEEN 0 and 9
When I enter a value in anyone of the 18 cells my error message appears
I cannot see what is causing the problem, any ideas

Tony

Hi guys,
I have found the solution to my problem

I found that the FIXED DECIMAL PLACES box in Options was checked. I have know unchecked this and everything is OK. Not sure how the box got checked, maybe upon installation of EXCEL
Anyway guys, thanks for your patience

Stay well in these troublesome times

I don't understand this statement: "When I enter a value in anyone of the 18 cells my error message appears"

On which machine is this happening? What do you mean by "my error message".

Since you are talking about 2 different machines, you need to be clear about what is happening on which machine.

Are you running the same version of Excel on both machines?

Try using Formula Auditing - Error Checking - in the Formulas Tab
see if that points to any problems.

Hi guys,
Clarity is my issue. The WS on my PC performs as I require. When I transfer the WS to my laptop, the WS on my laptop then has the problem mentioned
This is as follows and I will try to shorten the sequence
a1 = Data validation cell (Allow Whole Number between 0 and 9, Error alert message after invalid data entry)
I enter a value of 2 , tab to move to the next cell and the Error Alert appears
Why would this be happening on my Laptop but not on my PC
Both my PC and Laptop have Office 365 (16.0.12527.20260)32Bit, the same version I believe
There is no formula within the cell, the cell is used only for a value to be entered

On my Laptop I have removed the Data Validation from the cell, then re instated the Data Validation as required. This does not rectify the issue
