Converting 8 hrs and 20 min into decimal

Specs: Windows XP
I am using excel 2003 edition - I currently fill out my time sheet on a military style format - we have a different form that tracks what we do throughout the day but this time is tracked by decimals. If I were to work 8 hours and 20 minutes what is that in decimal. The second sheet works great when my time falls under the .25, .50, .75 time frame but in between those numbers can be a bit confusing.

Try this:

In cell A1 format as H:MM and enter 8:20
In cell B1 format as Number with 2 decimal points and enter the formula: =A1 * 24
You will get 8.33

Is that what your looking for?
