Specs: Windows XP
I AM TREASURER OF A CLUB
I am using Excel XP.
Financial transactions are entered in date order and each has a category code eg

date code narrative amount
3/6/2012 F QUIZ NIGHT £25.00
5/6/2012 G MOWING £20.00
6/6/2012 E MATS £2.50
9/6/2012 F GAMES £55.30
12/6/2012 L FEES £33.00
15/6/2012 F DANCE £102.00

I WISH TO CREATE SEPARATE ACCOUNTS FOR EACH CATEGORY EG

FUND RAISING CODE "F"

3/6/2012 QUIZ NIGHT £25.00
9/6/2012 GAMES £55.30
15/6/2012 DANCE £102.00

These would be held in the same spreadsheet.

Any help will be much appreciated. Bob

Simplest way I can think of is to simply Sort on your Code Column
Cut & Paste the individual sections into a new area of your spreadsheet
and your done.

Just make sure future entries are in the correct location on the spreadsheet.

✔ Best Answer
You could use the Advanced Filter feature with your Criteria being the Code column and the "Copy to another location" option.

Set it up like this and change the code in B2 and "Copy to" cell each time you run the filter.

       A B C D
1 date code narrative	amount
2 E
3
4 date code narrative	amount
5 06/06/2012	E	MATS	£2.50
6 03/06/2012	F	QUIZ	£25.00
7 09/06/2012	F	GAMES	£55.30
8 15/6/2012	F	DANCE	£102.00
9 05/06/2012	G	MOWING	£20.00
10 12/06/2012	L	FEES	£33.00

This will leave the original data intact and you can run other filters on it, such as by Date or Narrative.
