color coded difference of cell value in excel

Specs: Macintosh
hi,

Senario:
- one cell ( assume A1) , second cell( assume B1)

---I want B1 as ref cell; if difference of B1 and A1 is more then 20.. value( text)should turn green, if it is 21 to 30 it should turn pink and if 31 and above it should be red.

can you pls help me

I tried conditional formatting but not working with the range

Your stated criteria isn't clear to me.

First, I assume that when you say value (text) should turn green you mean that the font color should turn green. (I'm assuming the value is a number, not a text string)

Second, you say that you want the color to be green if the difference is greater than 20. 21 is greater than 20 yet you want that to be pink. 31 is also greater than 20, yet you want that to be red. Does that mean that the color should only be green for values greater than 20 but less than 21, e.g. 20.5?
