Specs: Windows XP
I have few MS Works files which were originally created in ClarisWorks on Mac but later Saved as ms works. I wish to convert these files into MS Word format and make it readable. Is it possible? If yes please explain how. I am on an XP Pro box with these files.

If they're in works format, you should be able to open then in Word. Have you tried?

Yes I have tried that Jennifer and it opens in MS Word but the problem is at least one third of the characters on this file is unreadable in MS Word.

I don't really know for sure since I don't have works installed. But the files have WPS extensions and as I said, when opened with works 6 & 7 converter available in Word, the files are partially readable.

It's not the WPS formatting information your seeing, is it?

When you scroll down, is the body of the document OK?

If it's the formatting info, you should be able to just delete it.

Sorry Mike! After taking your tip offs I went straight back to my files and found that what you said was right. Those funny looking characters were just the formatting information that appeared in the converted word document. I safely deleted them and was left with the actual content of the files. Wondering why I feel sorry? Because I forgot to say you thanks. Thank you Mike!
