I'm uncertain as to what you really want to accomplish, since you should have no problems writing English on a Danish keyboard (all letters are there but some are in other places), but perhaps this is what you need/want: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/292106

Hi Nigel,
In answer to "why" you are right about the typing but it's because I want to have the spell check in English (UK) and not to have it automatically on Danish. Changing it everytime I start a new document is easy but tedious!
Thank you for the link. Unfortunately, the stages they mention do not occur on Word 2010, I simply do not have the "input locales" function that they mention. Do you have any ideas?

In the menu on top, File->Options->Language. Make sure you have English installed.

When writing, MS Word 2010 should identify the written language immediately and switch the spell checker accordingly. It does in mine when I change language from Swedish to English and back again, in the same document.

Thanks for following up Nigel. I have the defaults set as you mention, and English is installed. Unfortunately, there is still this problem.

If you want the English keys in the normal places, install the English keyboard.
Control Panel->National Settings, Keyboard tab->Change keyboard->Add keyboard.
Make sure you have the icon for switching between keyboards visible, preferably in the Sys Tray, by ticking the proper box in the Language tab.
