Hi all, I'm aware of conditional formatting, but my issue can't be solved with it.

Say I have MAX(x, y) in a long series in Excel. I want to make it that if MAX chooses x, then the cell changes color.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Something like: =IF(MAX(Range1),''',MAX(Range2,Range3,Range4))

Conditional Formatting requires only a TRUE result to work.

But I get the feeling that this is not exactly what your looking for.

I think I'm as confused as Mike. What do you mean by

MAX(x,y) in a long series of numbers?Perhaps an example of some actual data might help.
