Can't open .xlsx files by double clicking using Excel 2010

Specs: Windows 7
Can't open .xlsx files by double clicking using Excel 2010. I can open the files by going to File/Open. I've tried changing the file association, uninstalling and re-installing Office and also unchecked the "Ignore other applications that use DDE" in Options within Excel. No resolution as of yet.

Try to create a local account with admin privileges. Then log on with that account, may be the file associations will be good again. Good luck.

I logged in under a local account and did notice something. If I made an Excel file and saved it, it saved as an Excel Worksheet. I was able to double click and open. But under my network account when I save an Excel document it saves as .xlsx which I cannot double click and open.
