Cannot set reminders in Outlook 365

Specs: Windows 10, 8gb
When I try to set an appointment reminder and come to save it Outlook gives the error message:

"The reminder for xxx will not appear because the item is in a folder that doesn't support reminders"

The message also has the audicity to ask "Is this OK"!

Maybe I'm being dumb but I always thought that one of the key Calendar features is to provide reminders. I've not had this problem before. I’ve searched for a remedy but what I’ve seen hasn’t worked.

I also have both .ost and .pst files, again not sure why and what the difference is. Any help to fix this would be gratefully appreciated - thanks in advance.

I'm using Win 10 on an HP Envy laptop.
