Specs: Windows XP
A series of dates are imported to column A as formatted 03/14/2004 serial date. How can it be converted to Mar-04 in another column?

On the Task Bar/Ribbon
Format
Format Cell
Number Tab
Select Date
Scroll down to about the 9th or 10th entry.

Thank you, but Is it possible to write a formula in column b for that manual function? Col a is auto-populated via an import with the actual date/time info & my goal is to have the date change to the mmm-yy 'automatically'.

change to the mmm-yy 'automatically'

You can't get any more automatic then doing a cell format.
As soon as you enter the data, it will display it in a format style you want.

Just select your range of cells I.E. A1:A100 and format them as MMM-YY
then whenever you enter a date into those cells, the will automatically display as the format you want.

It won't disturb your underlying data, just how you display it.

Mike,
I have a situation where column A has dates formatted as MMM-YY, column B has numeric values, column C, another set of numeric values. In Column D, I'm trying to concatenate all three column in a comma-delimited list by doing the following: =A1&","&B1&","&C1. The original values in columns A1:C1 are: Sep-12, 332, 91.5. The result ,however, 39692,332,91.5. Is there a way to enforce the date formatting in this concatenated list?

Yes, there's a way to do what you want, but you should post your question in a separate thread under a subject line relevant to your question.
