Calculation problem

Specs: Windows XP
Excel 2003 suddenly stopped calculating when you press ENTER. It will calculate if you SAVE, but you have to SAVE after each entry. Not convenient! What happened? Did a virus scan with Panda and none found.

Tools...Options...Calculation tab.

Make sure Automatic is checked.

Are you opening any other files before this one - including a hidden personal.xls?

Excel picks up it's calculations setting based on the first workbook that is opened during a given session and if the first workbook - including a hidden personal.xls is set to manual - the same setting holds across all workbooks in that session.

There are other causes, so try a Google search and see if anything pops up.

Also, it wouldn't hurt to run a Detect & Repair from the Help menu.

Great ideas! I'm only home for a few days so lots to do outside while I can. Will check into these things later this evening. Thanks for the help!
