Specs: Windows 7
I am trying to calculate a formula that will update my worksheet with real time date whenever I open my worksheet. For example, if I have an item that will expire 12/31/2017 I want to be able to insert a formula that will continuously calculate from whatever day that I open the spreadsheet against the expiration date.

✔ Best Answer
Use the today() function to get the current date.
Lets say:
A1=today()
B1=Your_expiration_date

=IF((B1-A1)<1;"expired";"valid")

Just keep in mind that the TODAY() function is volatile, meaning that it will calculate every time the sheet
calculates, even if none of other inputs to the formula change. Too many TODAY() functions in a spreadsheet may slow the sheet down.
