Specs: Windows 7
If I have a column in excel, and the values in the cells under that column are either going to be "powerpoint", "word", "Excel", "pdf" can I write code in VBA Excel so that when I type the letter "P" or "W" it auto populates to powerpoint or word only in this one column? Thank you.

Not sure what you mean by "auto populates to powerpoint or word"

Do you mean when you type the letter P in a cell it converts the letter P
to the word Powerpoint within the cell?

So if you enter the letter P in cell A1,
A1 converts to Powerpoint?

If that is what your looking to do, then look at the AutoCorrect options.

In Excel 2007:

Click the Microsoft Office button
Click on the Excel Options button to bring up the Excel Options dialog box (at the bottom of window)
Click on the Proofing button in the left hand pane
Click on the AutoCorrect Options button in the right hand pane
In the Replace Box, enter your letter P
In the With Box, enter your word PowerPoint
Click OK

See how that works for you.

Just a word of caution when using Autocorrect in this manner.

If you are using just the letter P then be aware that
if you need to enter a Part Number such as P-123
you may be surprised that you actually get PowerPoint-123

Autocorrect will always insert the PowerPoint text string if the P is followed by any special character,
IE: A Dash - , the Ampersand &, the Percent Sign % , etc etc

You can follow the P with a letter or number and it will NOT insert the PowerPoint text string.

You may want to use something like PP for PowerPoint, and WD for Word, EX for Excel, etc etc

Additionally, as you will find out, Case Matters. P is not the same as p

Also, I should have mentioned in my first reply, that Excel questions are best asked in the Office Software Forum.
