I have text in column K3 thru K50. i want to create a formula that assigns one letter to each text word. For exampe; the word "General" is typed in cell K3. I want the letter "G" to appear in cell L3. Everytime the word General appears in the cells K3 thru K50, I want the letter "G" to appear etc. When another word appears such as Intern, I want the letter "I" to correspond with that particular word.

✔ Best Answer
Assuming you only want the first letter of each word, and assuming that there won't be any duplicates, such as General and Gerbil, try this:

=LEFT(K3,1)

This is excellent information. Work well, but what if there are two words, such as General Information and I want the first letter of the second word? Is that possible?
