I am looking for a current accounting software program (Windows 10 compatible) where it permits an entered inventory item to then be split, parceled, or broken apart into two or more inventory items, then tracked, and sold separately. The initial inventory item would have been just one item. For example: I have a blood pressure cup and stethoscope packaged as one inventory item normally sold together as a package sale. A company only needs the stethoscope - and I can sell the blood pressure cup separately. What software would you recommend?

Our company uses Visma. Im not familiar with it as Im not an accountant, but Ive heard good things. You can try it for free and check if it has all the features you need.

Good luck.

To remove an item from the inventory, you sell it. To enter it as two items you buy it/them.
However, any normal accounting software should be able to do this using a Journal Voucher. This is the type of accounting event journal vouchers are meant to deal with. The reason being documentation of the event.

Thanks. I'm just the IT guy trying to get this small business away from a DOS program [Peachtree Accounting V12 DOS] and into some semblance of a current software accounting / inventory program using Windows 10. They keep telling me that SAGE does not allow them to "split" an inventory item like the old Peachtree Accounting software does - hence my question.

Why not just upgrade to SAGE?

Since Peachtree is now SAGE you could try your question on the SAGE website:

Per above responses, I think it's reasonable to go to SAGE HELP above hyperlinks and see what everyone says. Should take a couple days - I am busy as all heck - which is good. Trying to balance the workload right now. Thank you for your help.

I've decided to let the "client" work out this problem - I just am not familiar enough with the software to be of assistance. Thanks to those who helped above with your comments!
