Access 2007 Duplicating information from one form to another

March 25, 2013 at 13:50:10
Specs: Windows XP
What I'm trying to do is on my form have a button that say "Duplicate Entry" and when I click on it I want to duplicate all the information from that form to a new entry but have the (lets call it issue number for now) ascend. From 700 to 701 but everything else duplicate.

I'm using Access 2010 and I haven't had time to try this myself, but if I use the button wizard (the window that shows up when you create a new button) click on the "Record Operations" category and select "Duplicate Record" I wonder if that will do what you want?

If that doesn't work, I'm sure a Macro or some VBA can do what you want.

Let me know what you get from my button wizard suggestion.

I appreciate the reply. The duplicate button does work to an extent. I created an audit trail to track any changes and what changes. It shows a new record has been produced but in the form and query it's nowhere to be found. I think I'm just going to oldschool copy and paste for now.

I see. Well just post back here if you decide you do want to automate this process. I'd be more than happy to help you with the Macro or the VBA!
