Don't know what is causing your problem, but to start with I would run a Diagnostic.
This is for 2007, but pretty sure it's the same for 2010:

Running Microsoft Office Diagnostics from within Excel/Word

Click the Microsoft Office button
Click on the Excel/Word Options button to bring up the Excel Options dialog box (at the bottom of window)
Click on the Resources button in the left hand pane
Click on the Diagnose button in the right hand pane
Click Continue
Click Run Diagnostics

Running Microsoft Office Diagnostics from the Start Menu

Click on the Start button
Click All Programs
Click Microsoft Office folder
Click Microsoft Office Tools
Click Microsoft Office Diagnostics
Click Continue
Click Run Diagnostics

I ran the diagnostics as per your advise.A setup error is reported taht microsoft power point viewer 2007 is not available and suggestion was there to access it throgh a CD rom.
I was using office 2003 installed initially and 2007 files were viewed through MS supplied compitable software.Recently 2010 is loaded.
Now after running diagnostics, as i have no copy of 2007 itried to access from net and was not possible.
At the end when I close the diagnostics window the screen prompt came that the installation was successful ,but the problem remained
Request for further on this
Thank you --sarma

You may have remnants of 2003 & 2007 still floating around.

Here are three sites you can try.

I would advise using Method # 2, the Fix It option.

You may have to completely remove all versions, 2003, 2007 & 2010.
