I am a fairly new user of Exel and can only do super basic stuff. How would I enter 200 - 75 x 40% in a cell?

=200-75*.4 You need to be aware of the standard order of operations. Excel will do multiplication/division first, then addition/subtraction. Therefore the formula above will evaluate to 170.

If you want Excel to do the subtraction first you would use parenthesis.

=(200-75)*.4 which will evaluate to 50.
