xpnetdiag.exe runtime terminate unusual...

Specs: Windows XP, Pentium(R) D 2.8Ghz w 1.49 GB RAM
When I attempt to connect to the router via ethernet cable i get prompted to run network diagnostics which terminates saying something like: xpnet.exe caused runtime to terminate in an unusual way...

I've updated the network card drivers from here: http://www.getpcmemory.com/drivers/...

But no joy.

ISP Helpline guy says the network card needs replacing..

It's a Dell Optiplex GX620 and the Card a Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit controller linked via LAN cable to an Aztech Wireless router (which is working).

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in anticipation,

Evan have there been any lightning strikes near your home lately? network interface cards can get fried pretty easily.

No, I haven't had this machine connected to the internet since I bought it. Having said that, it is a refurb so it may very well have come with a fried network card. Sounds like I'll need to get another card...
