XP Slow Download Speed

February 25, 2012 at 16:08:27
Specs: Windows XP, 4 GB
I have a Mac and a PC in my home wireless network. ATT Uverse provides me with 16 MB/s internet access. I use the ATT wireless modem/router.

With the Mac my download speed is almost 16 MB/s so everything seems working well.

With my PC (WIN XP) the download speed is limited to less than 6 MB/s. I know that there is a way to allow my PC to speed up but I do not know how.

Can you please help?
Thanks, Cesar

I have never heard of this but then again what do I know. here is what I read:

1.Make sure you're logged on as actually "Administrator". Do not log on with any account that just has administrator privileges.
2.Start > Run > type gpedit.msc (not available in home version).
3.Expand the Local Computer Policy branch.
4.Expand the Administrative Templates branch.
5.Expand the Network branch.
6.Highlight the "QoS Packet Scheduler" in left window.
7.In right window double click the "limit reservable bandwidth" setting.
8.On setting tab check the ENABLED item.
9.Where it says "Bandwidth limit %" change it to read 0 (ZERO).
10.Close gpedit.msc.

Thank you for your prompt response!

I am using XP Home, not XP Pro, so I can not try your suggestion.
