Wireless NIC has to be reinserted everytime

Linksys Wpc54g wireless network adapter...

Ok, this is the second time I'm asking for help... I have an HP Pavilion ze4220 laptop with Win XP Pro installed.

When I turn on the laptop with the wireless NIC plugged in, it doesn't work unless I do one of two things...

1. Unplug the NIC card and plug it back in. (Trying not to have to do this as the slot is getting worn out and not taking the NIC card as tight as it used to.)

2. Go to Device Manager and disable the O2Micro OZ6912 CardBus Controller and then enable it.

The card is a Linksys WPC54G ver. 7.1 with the latest drivers from Linksys. It is listed separately from the Cardbus Controller as "Unknown Device" when not working and "Wireless-G Notebook Adapter" when working in Device Manager.

So, basically, it seems that the O2Micro OZ6912 CardBus Controller is the problem at startup because when I disable it and re-enable it, the NIC works fine.

This is the best explanation I can think of. Can someone help me please!

So you're having the same problem as in this issue: http://www.computing.net/answers/wi... except now it's with a different wireless card?

Have you considered the issue might be with the PC Card slot?

Yes. Never resolved it since.... http://www.computing.net/answers/wi... . I figured out that the "O2Micro OZ6912 CardBus Controller" can be disabled and then enabled, and the card works as if I unplugged the NIC and then replugged it back in. So I'm assuming the "O2Micro OZ6912 CardBus Controller" has something wrong in Win XP startup. I've already asked about this once, but no luck. I'm trying to get a new idea on how to approach this.
