wireless network set up

Specs: Windows XP
I'm having yet again another problem with my wireless network setup. First of all, I have to set up the installation manually, due to no CD. I got an installation manual and figure out how to hook up the router to the internet physically. However, I do get an interenet connecton with all of my computers, but nowhere was I given information on how to add a password or secure the network. Is there any other way than putting the CD in to set up a secured network? Someone said maybe my computer may not be set to automatically get it's tcp/ip network settings from the router through dhcp. Someone help, i've got a brand new router and cant use it because I dont want to set up unsecured. Thanks!

2. Go to your internet browser, and type the number into the address bar using this format:

3. You should now be able to configure the router. To set a password, look for "wireless", or "security".
