I've tried two different brands of wireless network adapter now: a Netgear and a Belkin. They've both had the same issue.

I'm running Windows 7, and the network connection will just randomly drop out. If I unplug and plug in the adapter, the network will reappear and it will connect to the internet just fine, until the next time it drops out.

If you tried two and got same problem, something must be wrong somewhere else.
Try changing the wireless channel to a higher channel number in the router configuration as a low channel number can often cause dropped connection.

Also, if wireless security is currently being used (a wireless key), try disabling security so the wireless is open to anyone in range. If you don't get any dropouts when security is disabled, carry on using it like that.

That was my inclination as well.

As far as changing the channel / dropping security - I'll try that when I get access to the router settings, but in the mean time, I have a laptop sitting on the desk next to the computer that is having trouble, and I've never had a connectivity issue with it.

I've checked the signal strength in the room, and it's good. The channel isn't empty, but it could be worse.
