Wireless internet won't connect, only local

Netgear Wgr614 wireless router

Specs: Windows vista
So we used to have comcast internet and my
wireless worked fine but we just switched over
to clear and had to get a new router which is
netgear wgr614 and my roommates used the
security setting WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-
PSK [AES] saying that is the strongest and
fastest, well they are both able to connect but
i cannot and the only way i can use the
internet is by using a cord. Without the cord it just says unidentified, access: local only.

My ex fixed the problem by changing the
security option to WEP but had to change the
password and when I told my roommate she
flipped out and we had to change it back and
when I was at my ex's he put his wireless to
the WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES]
and my computer had no problem connecting,
so is there any way to fix this problem at my
apartment without changing the security
setting? Is there something I need to
download? My computer is HP windows vista
only a little over two years old.

You need to update your wireless adapter. Netgear makes a wireless 300mbps usb adapter wnpda3100. I would recommend you first lookup the model netgear router and select a compatable usb wireless adapter.
