Wireless access to Intranet only

Specs: Windows 7
Hello,

I'm looking at doing an intranet project at work but I need to get something clear in my head first before putting forward my idea. What i want is to have one main machine that will have a forum and website on (probably Windows IIS on Windows 7).

Then i want to have approximately 10 other users on laptops that can connect to my intranet forum and site via "wireless" connection, but at the same time none of those 10 laptops or my main machine having any "internet" access.

Is this possible and if so how? Obviously I know it can be done via cables, but not sure about wireless. How would I got about doing this? I'd rather not have any of them access the internet at all.

You would use a wireless router as a wireless switch. Server would have a cabled connection to the router. Everyone else would connect to the wireless switch. No internet connection so no internet.

How would i get the laptops to point to the wireless switch? Do i need to change settings on the router/switch or the laptops themselves?

they would connect nomally like you do to any wireless router.

I am not understanding your question. Do you think there is something special to do if not connecting to the internet?

I just wasn't sure how they would connect. The laptop network settings would detect the wireless switch?

I take it you have never setup a wireless router or client before?

You install a wireless router [you will not be using the wan port]
You configure the router with a SSID and wpa2 passphrase
You setup the dhcp scope which in your case would not include a gateway.

On the client you install the wireless card
You setup a new wireless profile with a name like local lan
You enter the SSID and WPA2 passphrase in the profile.
You click connect

You get validated by the router via the passphrase and the router gives the client a ip address. The client is now connected to the lan.

Next step would be to connect to the server.
