Well if you wiped the harddrive then you have removed everything, so it won't even boot up, let alone connect!.

I take it that you mean you reinstalled the operating system after wiping the drive? In which case have you reinstalled all of the relevant drivers as well? You need to check Device Manager & see if there are any asterisks against any of the hardware - these are your missing/incorrect drivers.

I hope I am not doing anything to get in deeper trouble, but what are drivers and how
do you find them? I am 72 years old, just getting started ( about 6+ months) so,
please, be a little patient. My doctor thinks this will be good therapy for me.

Oh dear, you have a steep learning curve ahead of you.

A driver is a piece of software that allows the Operating System to interact with the hardware. Drivers are specific to the hardware that you have, very specific in some cases. So first we need to know what hardware you have before any can point you in the right direction fir drivers. That means the manufactures name and the model number.

If it is a common make of computer like Dell, HP Acer etc drivers can be obtained from the manufactures website.

You will need drivers for things like video card, sound card, and network interface card. It is the network interface card that connects you to the internet.

If you let us know the exact make/model of your computer someone can hopefully provide a direct link to where you get the drivers from.
