WinXP Domain to Workgroup Lockout

May 29, 2009 at 10:00:00
Specs: Windows XP
I have an old laptop PC from TI that I kept after I got laidoff from TI. This laptop was using a domain and since I left I wanted to change it to use my home workgroup instead of the office network based on domain to move all the personal data to my server. I changed the configuration from using a domain to using a workgroup, rebooted, then tried to log on and the user name & password failed. Now I cant access anything on the computer. I dont know how to get around this and would appreciate some help asap!
Thanks!

Is there anyone at TI you can call to get the administrator password?

Do you have xp cd to do a reinstall?

I'd either reset the local admin password or use tools to recover it. There is also online companies that can tell you the password for a fee if you are in a hurry or free if you have time.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10

Thanks for your response. I beleive I was admin on the machine. In anycase if I was not, I doubt they will give it out. I do have windows xp CD, do I need to re-install again? do I loose the data? Can I move this drive to be a secondary on another machine and just access the data?

I have no problem paying for tools etc... if I know it fixes and does what I need... did you use these tools you are referring me to?

If I get some of the tools available on the market to reset win XP password (including admin password), would that allow me to log on again to that machine and change it back to admin instead of workgroup and fix the issue?
