I have this problem. I try to access to win xp pro computer through the local network from another computer when the first one has its firewall disabled and I can get access to it. However, when I enable Windows xp pro firewall on the first one then I cannot get access to it.
I have checked that I have "FIle and printer sharing" exceptiohn enabled in Windows XP Pro firewall.
Any idea to solve this?
Thanks

put in another exception for the local subnet or put in an exception for each host name on the network.

Sorry, how do I do that?
Do you mean by changing the scope of "file and printer sharing" exception?
I just checked I have "My network(subnet) only" is enabled but I do not know why it does not work with this setting because it is supposed that that setting should allow every connection from other computers in the same local network, right? Do you know why does this not work as I expected?

Well I just tried setting the particular computer's ip adress or the local network by filling the "Custom list" item as scope for "file and printer sharing" and that worked.

If I set "any computer (including those on the net)" as scope, this also works.
Thanks for the help.

Well, I have also tried by setting
