Specs: Windows 7 home prem., AMD Phenom quad
I am using Linksys wirelless G router, will my wired speed on desktop increase when I change to a wirelless N router for laptop and ethernet for wired desk top? I don't need anymore wireless speed but am wondering if I upgrade will my wired desktop pick up more speed.

Wireless and wired are complete independent of each other. 802.11n and 802.11g relate only to wireless communications. Nothing at all to do with a wired Ethernet connection.

The deciding factor though is the bandwidth your ISP gives you. It likely to be a lot less than either wired or wireless. The only increase you will see in on a LAN. It will not effect your Internet speed at all.

This is what I was thinking. I think my router is having some issues. I have to reboot more that seems right. It's 5 years old and I think it's time for a change.
