Will this network drive work?

Microsoft Windows 7 home premium

Specs: Windows 7, Intel Core 2 Duo
If I connect my external Hard Drive (on its back its a micro USB type) to my modem (on that's back is a square USB type which I don't know the name) will it connect my External HD to my whole network? Like can I connect to that external hard drive anytime from any computer? (considering that it will always be on) Thanks\.

You don't normally connect a USB hard drive to a Modem. A Modem has one input, either a telephone or cable, and one output, usually Ethernet or USB.

If you have a device with a USB input it is probably a Router with a built in Modem, perhaps not. Some do take a hard disk, some don't. The USB might be an alternative to Ethernet.

Without a Model No of the device you are trying to plug this disk into we could be here guessing all day and all night as to whether it would work or not.

Well it's a Comcast Modem.

Why don't you try it and see if it works?

Alternatively, as a very last resort, you could read the manual for your modem.
