Specs: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic, 1.867 GHz / 2037 MB
I bought my 6 year old a lexibook laptop for his birthday. It came with a usb card for wifi that you plug in and it is supposed to connect to my wireless router. When I put it in, it asks for an ASCII password, I have a netgear wireless router. I don't know what this is, can anyone help?

You need to speak with whoever set up the Router. They will know the wireless log-on password.

If you have another computer that can connect to the router you may be able to get into the router configuration screen and read the password but quite often the password is hidden.

Failing that the only option is to reset the router to factory defaults and set a new password and reconfigure the wireless in its entirety.

I'm the one that set up the router, and I can't remember the password ( I know that's pretty stupid of me ). Any chance you can tell me how to reset the password?

On the back of the router shoud be a small reset button that will take your router back to factory settings.

You might have to use a pin or small object to get into the reset of some routers.

you will also need to put back in all your settings and passwords etc etc
