wifi conn uses old conn even though deleted

November 25, 2010 at 18:13:49
Specs: Windows 7, intel i5-450
Router and modem were replaced. Now I can connect ok when "connection3" connects but "connection4" sometimes happens and then connection occurs but no internet. I have no control of which one connects.
In Win7 I have deleted both "connections" and used arp to clear cache. I have also reset and powered off/on router, modem and my ACER 3820TG laptop many times.
I would sincerely appreciate assistance.

One thing to check is, which software is controlling the connection, the NIC software or Windows. For example, sometimes I use Hawkings USB adapters. I can let the Hawkings software control the adapter or I can let Windows control it. The trick is, that if I want Windows to control it, I have to stop Hawkings in the startup tab in msconfig.

In your case, you one may still remember the connection, while you deleted it from the other.
