Gateway Gateway nv52l15u fusion quad-cor...

Specs: Windows 8, Pentium M Dothan, 1.86GHZ / 4GB Ram
I have a brand new Gateway NV52L15u w/ Windows 8 64bit. The wireless is turned off and is bundled with "Airplane Mode" which is also turned off. The option is greyed out to enable Wi-Fi to toggle on or off. I have plugged into the lan to download Windows Updates that would automatically find the latest drivers, I got nothing from that. I went to Gateway's website, nothing there. I downloaded (against my better judgment) a driver from a Czech Atheros (the wireless mfgr) website and directed device manager to look at the .inf for a March 2013 driver, it updated, I rebooted, same symptoms. There is no physical hardware switch along the sides, front, bottom, only F3 which toggles Airplane Mode. I even disabled Microsoft Kernel Debug Network Adapter, as one Google search advised. Gateway has left their consumers in the lurch on this one. Any advice aside from the top Google searches on the matter and/or buying an external wireless adapter? Thanks in advance.

Brand new means "still under warranty".

I highly recommend you call Gateway's support people and get them to help you with this before doing anything else to your new system. They'll be your best bet to resolving this issue quickly and efficiently.

You know something, in my 'negative' experiences of calling tech support through the years, that never even occurred to me as a viable option! But I think I will try it, just for giggles.
I will let you know how that goes! Stay tuned...

I hear you!

If I had a dollar for every time I had a negative experience with HP support.........(they used to be the worst, I can't say anymore as I haven't had to call them in almost a decade now...thank goodness)

But, considering it's a brand new device it's probably your best bet to call them first. Here's hoping your experience turns out to be a good one.
