Why is only guest network showing up?

October 12, 2018 at 15:02:25
Specs: Macintosh
I just set up a new Linksys Ea8500 wifi router. For some reason only the guest network is showing up on all of my devices (MacBook Pro, iPhones, iPads). I did a factory reset and tried again but am still having the same issue.

Are you sure you made your Wifi Visible? There is usually an option to make it invisible so only those who know the log in name as well as the key can manually configure the connection. It may be a check box or a drop down menu so you can look for it in the set up.

Make sure that you have changed the log in name, log in key, and the administrator password for security and write them down, typically at least in the user manual supplied.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Have you tried to access the router with the Linksys app from Itunes or app store?

dmcnair > I hope your realize that many of these posts you are answering have not had any reply from the original poster in months. They either have their issue solved, given up on it, or gone out for professional help.

Indeed, dmcnair seems to have a flair for digging up older (>1 month) posts and then often giving "shoot-from-the-hip" advice (putting machines out of their misery, using DBAN for a virus, etc.). Almost like a "point-hoarder". If you want to be a valued member of the boards, stop giving blunt-instrument advice and help really solve the issues the OP has...

T-R-A,
agreed. I'm going to start deleting some of his posts if he doesn't stop this nonsense. He doesn't even acknowledge when other users point this out to him.
Were here to help other users, not climb to the top of the points chart.

Just my two cents guys but if he keeps it up, don't waste time deleting, just notify Justin and he'll likely ban him.

He does provide some good info every now and then so I would hate to see him completely gone but he also provides a lot of missinforamtion. He definitely needs to cool his jets a little.
